Why India lost?

Why India lost?

That's really a big question. The reasons are not technical. They played technically well really. But they made a big mistake in some parts which are really awkward as a quality side.

Firstly, lets start with Toss. There is nothing we can control about toss. In WC semifinal versus Australia we lost the toss. Experts said we lost the match after losing the toss. Its definitely not like that. The performance of the players can overshadow the rain and toss factors. Thank God!! People are not questioning Dhoni for losing the toss over.

Secondly, BOWLING. I don't think anything is wrong with bowling. They bowled well in such a sense to close the critics of Indian Bowling line up. Raina as a part timer got the wicket of Williamson. Kane is the best batsman like Virat. Getting his wicket is no more a joke. Raina bowled superbly well. Bumrah with his firing yorkers reminded us of Malinga. Pandya, Ashwin(As expected) bowled well. Though Ashwin leaked runs, that doesn't really matter as he took crucial wicket of Guptill. Jadeja took Santner at right time though bowling extras. Overall, Indian bowling is above par.

Thirdly, Batting. Now, lets take two factors.

PRESSURE:

Bumrah and Pandya made their WCT20 debut. They played in home soil. They had immense pressure. Not them, every players had that pressure. We could see that visibly. Pressure is expected but not to this level. On the other hand, newzealand handled the pressure really well. The Crowd chanting India every ball but ironically India felt that pressure. PRESSURE is one of the reasons why India lost. But as a quality side you can't blame it.

WINNING STREAK:

Besides pressure, what made me wonder is the poor shots and losing wickets very casually. It may be difficult wicket to bat with turn. But batsmen batted really poor courtesy wicket of Jadeja and Raina. Dhawan should be benched. Raina is slowly losing his shots. We were expecting someone to stick with Dhoni and rotate the strike with some odd boundaries after the wicket of Virat. But doesn't happen. Jadeja had once managed a tie against NZ in ODI. His performance yesterday proves us he is no more a match winner but merely a bowler, not even an allrounder.

I think India is too pressurized about winning streak and they somehow want to end it. So they ended it yesterday  The batsmen want to step up if they want to win.

FACTOR OF DHONI:

Many people are questioning why Dhoni did not go for three spinners like Kane. To be frank, Kane captained well. But you can't blame Dhoni. Restricting the side for 126 doesn't imply Dhoni's poor captaincy. Raina, Jadeja and Ashwin all bowled decently.

 BIG MISTAKE:

Now what could have been done? Dhoni said about the poor shot selection of batsman. Virat on the eve of the match told the reporters that they are going to play just like other match. I don't know why players are telling something and their activities are different. Similarly, Rohit told he is preparing well for Amir and got out to him in Asia Cup. Yesterday, we could see well they are playing with pressure.

Players should step up and play little focused. They are favorites and they are balanced. They have to just play their natural game understanding the conditions well.

Dangerous flaws of current Indian T20 side

Why India have to be cautious?

Largely pressurized by all legends and top batsmen, now India is in serious pressure. This team is not full of experienced players or young package, instead a mixed package of experienced and young lads. Lets take a look at why India should be cautious.

WINNING STREAK:

With Dhoni's captaincy, India has won several ICC events. Take a look at that. When India won Champions trophy, we won all matches and carried the momentum till final and won it too. In recently concluded Asia Cup also India won all of those matches. But, considering WC 2015 we won every single match but we failed in Semifinal.Again in lastly held WCT20 India won every match till final.Strange we can win every single match but not a final. Pressure is definitely not an issue. India can cope with pressure better than any teams in the world. We should be cautious about this winning streak. It doesn't matter if we lose matches initially, but knockouts does matter a lot. Winning every single match till semis like WC2015 and losing in semis won't fetch you the cup.

BOWLING LINE-UP:

India has been consistently criticized for poor bowling.  Be it pace or swing, we had some, but lost them either due to inconsistency or fitness issues. We should be aware of it. Bumrah failed yesterday. He was torn to 10 runs an over. It's just a warm up match. But if he failed in knockouts, like what mishra did in last year, then it would be miserable for us. Jadeja and Ashwin didn't provide any match winning performances either. Our spin department is not too strong either. Bench strength is fresh with negi and unpredictable with harbhajan. Pandya loses his control with lengths very often. He gets the wicket due to pressure more often than his techniques and lengths. Yuvraj is good but if he gets leaking runs, then no one can help India as in recent match he leaked many runs in a single over. If he leaks those many runs in a single over, then he won't be given spell further. Any bowler can have a bad day. But concerning yuvraj its still a issue. Isn't it?

BATTING INCONSISTENCY:

Virat was in red hot form. If he fails, then it is tough for India to get out of the trouble. Its the same case regarding rohit too. Dhawan rarely fires.
Raina became inconsistency nowadays. I think he has to do something noteworthy if he needs some place in ODI format.
Yuvraj may be a  match winner. But why at times he is doing some poor things? Courtesy WC final vs SL.  Even in recent match we could see his struggles with batting. He is struggling even to rotate the strike in some matches. Is it right to call a person match winner if he is struggling to rotate the strike? But he is getting well. That's a lone compromise.
Dhoni was once a sure match winner. It's true he lost his midas touch. In yesterday's match also, he can't take his team home. But, he is nearing his best. We can't really rely Pandya as a finisher as he is unpredictable. He may hit or go for a golden duck.

SELECTION OF PLAYERS:

            BHUVI OR NEHRA?
Bhuvi is highly economical. He has bowled most number of dot balls in a calendar year in IPL. He knows conditions very well. Nehra is experienced. He leaks runs but takes the wicket at crucial times. So, it would be a question whom to pick.

            SHAMI OR BUMRAH?
If you are having Rohit, Virat, Dhawan, Dhoni, pandya, Yuvraj, Raina, jadeja, ashwin, bhuvi then you can have only one extra seamer. Shami is superb with his pace. Bumrah is proficient too. Now, whom will you select?

            DHAWAN OR RAHANE?
Really am feeling pity for rahane. Considering his strike rotating capabilities, consistency, ability to adapt to any order, ability to adapt to any situations, he is really unlucky. But why they are relying Dhawan. He was once a match winner. But now he is highly inconsistent. Highly and highly inconsistent.

             WHY YUVRAJ NOT NEGI?
Am happy to see Yuvi getting back to his trademark sixes. But am afraid,we are doing some unfair things here. Is it right to give a struggling player time in national side while having talented youngster in bench?  Negi was a proven match winner for CSK. He is a proven allrounder. But I don't think he will get chance. He will fade like Rayudu and some, whose mistakes no one is aware of.
